Care Instructions

Chikankari is delicate hand embroidery. With a little care, your Route Crafts pieces will stay beautiful for years.

Washing

• Gentle hand wash in cold water, or dry clean. Machine washing is not recommended for embroidered pieces.
• Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, and strong stain removers.
• Do not soak for long periods. Wash similar colours together and wash the garment inside out.

Drying

• Do not wring or twist. Gently press out excess water.
• Dry flat or on a padded hanger in the shade — direct sunlight can fade colours.

Ironing

• Iron inside out on a low-to-medium heat. Avoid ironing directly over the embroidery; place a thin cotton cloth over it if needed.

Storage

• Store folded in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Keep delicate whites separate to prevent colour transfer.
